Rev. Alexander Perekrest

(January 31, 1929 - March 7, 2007)

Rev. Perekrest's brief life story was published in Ukrainian on page 110 of Dr. V. Domashovetz's book, Ukrainian Missionary and Bible Society / Ukrainian Evangelical Baptist Convention, 2000.  The article references Rev. Perekrest's life in The Messenger of Truth, 1973, # 7-8, page 16.  [English translation needed]

It might be said that Rev. Perekrest might be one of the few, and also, the only Ukrainian Baptist minister who pastored the same church [Cleveland] for 50 years, which would stand out in our history as an incredible accomplishment. Rev. Perekrest was aware that a younger man was needed to take over the leadership of his church and just six months later, Rev. Perekrest went to be with the Lord on March 7, 2007.

More information can be found in the Ukrainian Baptist Churches' section / Cleveland, OH (1952).

Whenever Rev. Perekrest visited the Ukrainian Baptist Church in Toronto, he always made sure that he spoke in English for those young people that were in attendance. This was a man who preached with a passion for souls and will be greatly missed.
